Allergy & Ingredient Information
Please be aware that the following allergens may be present in your cakes & that you will need to pass this information to any involved parties requiring it: Nuts, Peanuts, Flour (gluten), Eggs, Sulphites, Soya & Milk. I cannot guarantee any product will be entirely free from traces of any allergen.
Some cake flavours and decorations contain alcohol.
Cakes containing fruit - Although every care has been taken to remove seeds, pips or stones, some may remain.
Food colourings – colours may vary and may contain E-numbers which can have an adverse affect on activity and attention in children. Mostly used in decorations, sometimes used in sponge and frosting. Deep colours may also stain skin or clothes.
Metallics – are often mixed with lemon and alcohol which can have a bitter taste.
Portions stated are a guideline only, please refer to the cake chart to get the most portions from your cake.
Collection and Travel
I get very busy and to keep everyone’s orders on time it is important that you stick to your collection time. If you do need to change the time please give as much notice as possible so I can try to rearrange my schedule. I can rarely finish your order earlier, change the collection day/store your order overnight.
Collections are from the front door of my house (bakery kitchen in a Shepherds Hut in the garden), please park in front of the house whenever possible, there is normally space and please avoid blocking neighbour’s driveways.
I recommend putting the cake on a flat space in the car on a grip mat (ie boot or footwell) most seats and people’s laps are at an angle which is never suitable for a cake. If you must have a passenger holding it, ensure they are holding it level by supporting the box at the back in line with their knees. Please take extra care over speedbumps and around corners.
Storage and structure
Ask for the shelf life of individual products, most are 5+ days.
Cakes containing fresh fruit, cream or soft cheese must be stored in the fridge and consumed within 2 days.
Unless otherwise stated – cakes should be stored in a cool, dry place on a flat and stable base. They must never be placed in direct sunlight.
In hot weather it is advisable to store in the fridge and take out a couple of hours before needed. Humidity can make condensation appear on your cake as it comes back up to room temperature. This should go within a couple of hours but the best way to avoid it is by wrapping the cake box in cling film so that the humidity can’t get in. Some decorations may need to be removed and kept out of the fridge.
Tiered, double height cakes and decorations will contain food safe non edible supports, it is your responsibility to ensure these are removed before consumption. please ask for more info as needed. Models and sugar flowers will contain edible glue – this does give them a harder gum like texture. Fresh flower decorations should never be eaten unless stated that they are edible, non organic flowers can contain pesticides and other harmful substances, some flowers are also highly toxic so I always recommend fresh edible organics. Dried flowers and card toppers are flammable so do not use a candle near them.
Artistic Licence – sometimes it may be necessary and/or an improvement to alter the design slightly and I will always try to give notice of this where possible. As items are hand decorated, colours & details may vary slightly. Sometimes it may be necessary to alter the recipe slightly or use different coatings to enhance the structure.
Amendments or cancellations
I understand there are unexpected situations in which you need to cancel or amend your order and try to be as flexible as possible.
Less than 2 days notice – I would have already started to make your order and will be unable to amend it or process any refund. (minor inscription or colour changes might be possible)
Less than a month notice - a refund of any monies paid will be issued minus your deposit as I will have turned other work down for your date and will be losing income, the deposit also covers some work done on it already, which would include any products already purchased, admin & design fees. If you are postponing or reducing quantity please try to give as much notice where possible and I’ll do my best to move your order to a new date, which will require a new deposit) or adjust your order accordingly.
If I need to cancel your order due to illness then of course any monies paid will be refunded in full & I will do my best to help you find a suitable alternative with the great network of bakers in Leicester. If cancellation is caused by Government restrictions on catering businesses that are out of my control then I will be unable to refund any part payments already made and instead will be able to reschedule your order date or provide credit to use within a year.
Feedback
Positive feedback makes my day, so many people get in touch to say how much they loved their cake! Feel free to share your lovely feedback on my Facebook or Google account! It really helps the business to continue to grow and makes me SO happy that you’re so happy!
Feedback of the negative kind is very rare. If you do have an issue then this will need to be investigated thoroughly. I will always ask you to check your cake on delivery or collection to ensure you’re happy with design and any spellings. I cannot be held responsible for anything that has been miscommunicated/misspelt/damaged from yourself. If you need something changing the best time to mention this is when you collect your cake as it can often be easily adjusted.
I cannot refund customers if you simply don’t like the taste or texture of my cakes, I can provide tasters in advance for a fee if you would prefer to try the flavour before you commit to a larger cake. If you have any other issues I will need to receive back 75% of the uneaten cake (even if you’ve sliced it) and within 24 hours. I always make samples of each product to check it’s delicious every time and take photos just before collection/on delivery.
Your order is created to the specifications noted in your order form and subject to the above T&Cs. Make sure you check you are happy with all of the details and get in touch as soon as possible if something needs changing.
Frequently asked questionS
IF YOU CAN'T SEE YOUR QUESTION HERE PLEASE CONTACT US
hOW MUCH WILL MY CAKE COST
Prices listed on my website are for standard products, if you would like to discuss bespoke design please get in touch. Prices for bespoke can depend on how much detail, how many portions, finish type, flavours & packaging options so it's best for us to have a chat about what you need & if you have a set budget.
I have to let you know I am not the cheap cake lady. I am reasonably priced though & will happily work with a budget to suit your needs as much as possible. I'd recommend that you look at my cake page for portions & prices of the basic frosted cake before getting in touch.
can you copy a cake i've seen on social media?
I can make almost anything but I am an artist & prefer to put my own spin on things. We can take inspiration from other artists but keep in mind that if you have found a cake at the top of a Google ranking, Pinterest or Instagram account then chances are they have had hours of detailed work done on them to make them beautiful enough to be so popular - this means that cakes like this can also come with a big price tag. If you have a budget in mind just let me know, we can still take elements of your dream cake & tailor it to suit your needs.
I have an allergy, can you tell me what's in each product?
Please get in touch with any allergy enquiries, I have a full list of ingredients for every product that I make. This is a small home bakery however & I do advise that peanuts, nuts, flour, dairy, eggs, soya & sulphites are present in the kitchen so there may be traces. I do my absolute best to keep allergenic ingredients separate to others.
